Immigration Without Pre-Arranged Employment

Many Canadian immigration programs are employment-driven so if you don’t already have a job offer but want to move to Canada to find one then you may need to adopt a different strategy.

If you work (or have worked in the previous 10 years) in one of the 38 occupations listed here then you can apply as a Skilled Worker without having pre-arranged employment in order to gain permanent residency.

Some Provinces in Canada have programs which do not require you to have a job offer or plans to start a business. Nova Scotia for example offers the "Community Identified Stream" which allows for people who already have (or are willing to develop) some connections with a community in Nova Scotia to immigrate to that community.

If you don’t fall into the above categories then often you best bet is to look for a job. Although we are not a recruitment agency and cannot find you a job, we provide a range of services to improve your chances and gain job search skills specific to the Canadian market. If you are finding it difficult to obtain a job offer without being allowed to work in Canada already (sometimes it’s a "catch 22" situation) then we can help you explore more creative options. Perhaps your spouse or partner wishes to enroll into a college in Canada to study? If so you may be able to obtain an Open Work Permit while they study. The advantage of an Open work permit is that you can work for any employer without having to obtain a job offer and have your employer undertake certain national advertising of the position first.
